Arkana Yucatan is proud to present ancestral medicine retreats in Mexico, held on a magical ecological hacienda in the Yucatan peninsula, 3 hours away from Cancun Airport. It will be a profound journey of self-discovery supported by the use of plant medicines and spiritual practices guided by the most gifted healers from the Shipibo, Wixarrika, and Mazatec traditions. We respect and honor indigenous healing traditions and have curated special retreat programs around them that treat diseases of modern times. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, or any form of trauma, PTSD, addictions, we can help you heal and restore happiness in your life.
Maestro Juan is one of the most prominent healers in the Wirrarika tradition. Healers often are referred to as Marakame, which translates as those that possess knowledge. He holds the title of Marakame cantor (Medicine Singer) by his fellow elders. He chants to the spirit of the hikuri to connect humans with earth and the wisdom of the cosmos.
He started leading ceremonies at the age of 16, after years of apprenticeship under family guidance. He is with us now to share his knowledge and warm spirit during your healing process. Through his prayers, you will find a loving and powerful voice and one of the purest examples of an old traditional Shaman. We are honored to have Maestro Juan amongst the staff at Arkana Yucatan!
Our Psilocybe Mushroom ceremonies will be run by Maestra Eugenia Pinedo Casimiro, a Mazatec medicine woman from Huatla de Juarez, Oaxaca, the town of Maria Sabina. She proudly carries the lineage of her mother, Abuela Julieta Casimiro, a former member of the Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. After Abuela Julieta's death, Maestra Eugenia inherited all of her knowledge and healing responsibilities among her community.
She started working with niños Santos (psilocybe mushrooms) from a very young age assisting her mother and grandmother in their rituals. In recent years, she has had the opportunity to travel around the world sharing Medicines in the traditional Mazatec vigils keeping alive the traditions that Maria Sabina made famous in the 1960s.
