Don't trip alone!

5-MeO-DMT is by far the strongest Entheogen known to man. It is important to know that consuming this compound by yourself can be extremely dangerous. Firstly, it is known that during the experience people can stop breathing without noticing it. And secondly, if vomiting takes place, you must be rolled over on your left side, to prevent choking while laying on your back. It is, therefore, fundamental to have someone watching over you.

Introduction

Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual is a traditional Shipibo ayahuasca center owned by master healer and ayahuasquero Ricardo Amaringo, co-founded with Dr. Joe Tafur and Cvita Mamic. The center is located close to a small village named Llanchama, approximately one hour south of Iquitos airport, along the Rio Nanay. The center is named after a master plant called Nihue Rao and offers retreats with various master plants, traditional Shipibo diets, and ayahuasca ceremonies. Besides that, the center provides also training in Amazonian shamanism and opportunities for visionary art.

Maestro Ricardo Amaringo

Master shaman and leader of Nihue Rao, 40 years of shamanic experience with ayahuasca, and master medicinal diets.

Set and Setting

The maloka is an admirable construction in the traditional Shipibo style. It can hold up to 30 people, including the shamans, facilitators, and participants. Inside the maloka, all guests sit in a circle on their individual mat. Each guest will receive a personal icaro (song), which can help open them to the extraordinary medicinal visions from the world of the plants and also provides spiritual healing.

About the Session

Ceremonies take place four times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesday there is no ceremony held so that participants can rest and integrate their experience, the weekends are also dedicated to rest and integrate.

The participants gather between 7 and 8 p.m. in the maloka, at 8 p.m. everybody comes individually forward to drink the medicine, one hour later, the full effect of the medicine opens up and the shamans begin to sing to call good energies into the realm. Each participant will be called forward in front of the shaman to receive a personal medicinal song, or icaro, dedicated to his or her personal healing and spiritual intentions. A ceremony generally finishes between 1 and 2 a.m. After the ceremony is over, participants may return to their rooms to sleep or chat and talk about their experiences with others.

  • A meeting with Ricardo upon arrival to assign you a master plant if you are interested in doing a master plant diet
  • 4 ceremonies per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday evenings)
  • 1 to 4 post-ceremony integration meetings per week (sometimes our master shaman is very busy but the facilitators will always help you and guide you through this process)

Nihue Rao is located approximately one hour from the Iquitos airport. Guests will be picked up at the airport by mototaxi, by one of our experienced drivers. We recommend that you arrive in Iquitos in the morning, or no later than 3 p.m. in order to reach Nihue Rao before night.

We will ask you to make a deposit of $50.00 USD the moment we give you the key, because many passengers forget to turn in the key of their room or say they left it in the room and sometimes they take it back to their countries with them, or they break stuff such as glasses, ashtray, hammocks and others. We use the money to replace them.

Additionally, please note that we are located in the jungle with a satellite connection dependent on the weather. We ask for your patience in communication. We usually respond within 24-48 hours. Thank you!

Please keep in mind that we do not make any kind of refunds, if you have paid the program here and you suddenly change your mind, there won’t be any kind of refunds, you can reschedule and come in another day. Furthermore, if you decide to leave early for any kind of circumstances, the same thing will apply no refunds, there won’t be any exceptions at all, please remember this before making this decision.

Nihue Rao changed my life. I lived and worked there for 8 months and witnessed the most beautiful awakenings, healings and transformations (including my own). I always felt respected and safe, as did all the women who were there at that time.

It is a Shipibo center that respects tradition, which for some will be very conservative and for others legitimate... but it is what it is, and being there is a wonderful and unique experience. I will always feel deep gratitude and admiration for Maestro Ricardo, for his medicine and his wisdom.
